Bella Vista Falls to 0-3

by Joe Blenkle

Bella Vista's varsity football team dropped to 0-3 on the year with a 36-13 loss to Cordova.

The winless Broncos fell behind 14-0 in the opening quarter of play and trailed by three touchdowns by the half.

Cordova scored again in the third quarter to go up 28-0 before the Broncos finally broke through on a 77-yard dash by Bella Vista's Troy Currier. Quarterback Todd Scalia made the extra-point kick to bring the score to 28-7.

The Broncos continued to struggle however, giving up a safety after the ball was snapped out of the end zone to bring Cordova's lead to 30-7.

The Lancers then came back for another touchdown - their last of the game - to stretch the lead to 36-7.

The Broncos managed one more touchdown in the game - again by Currier - on a three-yard run, bringing the score to its final 36-13 tally.

Bella Vista enters league play this week (Oct. 4) with a visit to Del Campo for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the Cougars.
